'Colbert' beat out four other NASA-suggested options for new module

2 hours, 13 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - NASA's online contest to name a new room at the
international space station went awry. Comedian Stephen Colbert won.

The name "Colbert" beat out NASA's four suggested options in the space
agency's effort to have the public help name the addition. The new room
will be launched later this year.

NASA's mistake was allowing write-ins. Colbert urged viewers of his
Comedy Central show, "The Colbert Report" to write in his name. And they
complied, with 230,539 votes. That clobbered Serenity, one of the NASA
choices, by more than 40,000 votes. Nearly 1.2 million votes were cast
by the time the contest ended Friday.

NASA reserves the right to choose an appropriate name. Agency spokesman
John Yembrick said NASA will decide in April, but will give top vote-
getters "the most consideration."

You watch, they will try to weasel out of this somehow, claiming there
is some sort of rule about naming a module after a living person.
This is when Colbert will decide that the module should really be named
after his hero - Rush Limbaugh - and his little .38 caliber "significant
other" - "Sweetness" will come into play.
He's going to have a field day with all this. :-D :-D

They've already said they reserve the right to reject the winner.

Democracy, ain't it wonderful?
I imagine my suggestion, "Barbarella - The Module Of Love" was tossed
right out by these small-minded miscreants.
Well, when I build my International Sex Station, there _will_ be a
module named Barbarella on it, and one named Princess Aura also. ;-)

Democracy? Like all self perpetuating government agencies, NASA is
socialist, not democratic. They only want to give the appearance that they
care about what the public thinks. ;-)

I thought they only existed as a stooge of the military-industrial
complex's hooligan minions, as they expand their capitalist war monger
ways into space in the interest of the corrupt and historically doomed
merchants of death clique.
But that's just one communist agitpropster's opinion. :-D

NASA might name toilet for Stephen Colbert
Space agency doesn't want to flush away good will following online
poll

NASA may consider putting Stephen Colbert's name on a space
toilet, after the comedian came out on top of the U.S. space
agency's online naming poll for a new space module.

I kind of like the names "Job Security", or how about "Golden Nest
Egg" or just name it "Ponzi" because he's supposed to be dead, at
least until our SEC approved Madoff came along.
