This is the specimen that was discovered by Ed Conrad in Carboniferous
strata in Pennsylvania's anthracite coal region.

It is shown near a facsimile human femur and was still
embedded in a huge lump of slate (shale) that had been removed from
deep underground during a strip-mining operation.

The specimen has been the subject of intensive scientific testing by
Lin Liangtai of Taipei, Taiwan,
at universities, museums and scientific institutions in the Far East
and Canada .

Some claim that coal, crude oil, and natural gas aren't of biological
origin, but instead have seeped up from geological formations which
would explain the presence of recent fossils in coal seams. Have there
been any discoveries by others that would support that conclusion?

The La Brea Tarpits contain huge number of fossil remains of recent
origin, including human remains. However this proves neither that the
asphalt is of non-biological origin, nor that the fossils are millions
of years old.

Lead dating should help, at least subjectively putting us in the
general era of whenever that planetology muck turned into coal. Ed's
old man of coal could turn out being just a few million years old.

Like natural gas, much of Earth's coal and oil may have had little if
anything to do with biological contributions. Ed's man of coal may be
only a few million years old, although it sounds a lot better at 280
million years. Lead dating should be good enough.

Notice that I didn't exclude biodegrading matter. Why of course you
didn't notice.

Does all coal and oil have DNA?
