35F here today. Dry so far. The weathermen have been wrong a lot
lately. They never predicted the snow that fell early yesterday
morning. Then they were predicting a rain storm yesterday with 50 to
60 mph wind gusts! It never came. On the contrary, yesterday was
partly sunny and calm. They were right only about the temperature
gettting colder, falling below freezing again. Today they were
predicting more snow, but none has arrive so far.

Last night I was cutting through the park about 8:30 PM on my way to
Haggen's and the mall, looking to see if the flood waters had
receded. Actually the waters were much lower last night than they had
been kin the morning. The footbridge had survived. Then I began
noticing police cars shining lights into the park! I tried to
gracefully exit the park and began walking down the street, but they
had seen me, and I soon saw the flashing lights behind me! Have you
ever been pulled over by the police while walking down a sidewalk?
About 3 police cars were converging, so I suddenly became very
cooperative. Seems they were looking for someone with a black hood,
and I generally fit the description (although my hood was down). When
they saw me turn and walk away after seeing them, they decided to come
after me (actually I had walked down to throw a newspaper I was
carrying into a trash barrel, and then turned to walk back up to the
street)! Once they saw me up close, I think they immediately realized
I didn't look like the "criminal type", so after the routine checking
of my ID, they politely let me go. I was stopped by Beaverton police,
but Washington County sheriff's deputies were also very active in this
great manhunt! Made me wonder if it was soneone I should be wary of,
lurking somewhere down in the park? A murderer? They never told me.
Like as not it was only some guy who got high on meth and slapped his
girlfriend around. The police around here make such big deals out of
such small incidents. They rest of the night was quiet but cold.

30F here and cloudy. Forecast says rain, but don't
see any. The weathermen have bee notoriously wrong the last few
days. They predicted a wind storm that never showed up, and they
failed to predict a snow storm that did! But they were right about it
getting colder again. It was a very cold night last night, standing
in the park. There was black ice on the streets, sidewalks, and
paths. I slipped and almost fell down crossing rhe street in the
crosswalk lane. I thought, this will be dangerous for dirvers too!
Later I heard on the radio that there had been a number of accidents
in the area over night. Heavy frost on the grass and the ponds are
starting to freeze over again. Thick fog settled in, and my every
breath produced a white cloud. Here at Safeway it feels cold too.
Maybe they are trying to save money on their heating bill because
sales are so poor. Or maybe it's just me, not getting enough calories
on my food stamp ration diet, as I still ocassionally see a California
transplant walking around in his short pants!

Snowing again here and 32F at 5 PM. Weathermen had predicted warmer
(40F) and rain.

We tried to elect someone new who would actually get OFF THEIR ASS and
DO SOMETHING TO PROTECT THE COMMUNITY. Didn't happen.
