Endeavour had a 'wheel-stop' at about 800 feet from the end of the runway used yesterday. The runway used yesterday is at least 3000 feet shorter then the SLF. ![]() Nominal safe landing at EAFB, a safer landing site than KSC anyways.... When you consider that landing at Edwards involves mating the orbiter to a 747 and then hopping across the USA in multiple hops (only during good weather), one could dispute the above claim. Landing at Edwards involves many landings and much more handling of the orbiter. |

But transporting the orbiter from Edwards to KSC does not endanger *astronauts* and NASA always measures shuttle safety relative to how safe it is for the astronauts. It seems that the media, and the public in general, don't care much about anyone at NASA dying on the job unless they're astronauts. :-( Jeff -- beb - To paraphrase Stephen Colbert, reality has an anti-Ares I bias. |

I know it's never early but that seemed very close to touchdown. -- Graham Drabble http://www.drabble.me.uk/ |
