Did you know you can buy land on the moon?

This site claims that there are already over 1,125,000 lunar land owners
from 176 countries around the world. To date more than 300 million acres
have been issued to people from all walks of life here on planet Earth. The
sale of lunar property has been ongoing for 22 years by the Lunar Embassy!

Can this be trusted? It's a pretty good investment but I don't know if it
holds in court.

Did you know that you can "buy" a star?

"The UN Outer Space Treaty of 1967 stipulated that no government
could own extraterrestrial property. However, it neglected to
mention individuals and corporations. Therefore, under laws dating
back from early US settlers, it was possible to stake a claim for
land, and register it with the US Government Office of claim
registries."

Unfortunately for the Lunar Embassy, early US settlers had to do more than
simply stake a claim. Now ask yourself whether the Lunar Embassy has
actually lived on and worked the land.

I'll sell you a whole galaxy. In fact, I'll sell you galaxy after galaxy
until your money runs out.

Ya know, I do give him cudos for that angle. It's almost as great a
scam as naming stars after people and putting them in a copywriten
book, to make it seem legit. But what is really pathetic is for
someone who has already raked in a bundle to resort to such a
lame form of advertising like this.

Dude, forget that. I'll sell you land on Mars. I also have a hot little
piece of property on Alpha-Centuri that I could sell you. The moon is so
yesterday. With all the people buying land there I'll bet it will be a
ghetto in a few years.

And "staking a claim" involved actually driving stakes into the
surface at the four corners of the claim and attaching a note
stating name and date. The office of claim registries does not ask
for proof but for the claim to be held valid it must have been
physically staked. I guess the media have been suppressing reports
of private lunar flights as part of some disinformation campaign
directed by the PTB.

Actually it's really just a question of prior ownership. If this
'Lunar Embassy' outfir had title to the land of the Moon which it's
seling, then, fine. You can certainly seel your own land!
Otherwise, there's no more validity to this offer than for you or
me to start selling parcels at the North Pole.
There are two stories to relate here, both truw.
In my youth the old hayden Planetarium sold a booklet which
claimed to have deed for one square 'inch' (about 6-1/2 cm2; oldstyle
was the prevalent scheme back then) of the Moon in some crater. I
forget which, but it was a big-name one.
HP merely sold the booklet, like all its other books and
souvenirs, but the Department of Markets, Licences, or whateer it was
called then, didn't cotton to the idea. Unless the book publisher or
auther could demonstrate that it owned the land or rights of sale for
it, the deed was phony. Ergo, the Planetrarium was carrying on a
misleading business practice.
the book had to go, which it did in quick time.
The other tale is one some of you may remember. Ralston-Parina
company packed in certain of its cereal boxes deeds to, again, one
square inch of land in Yukon. This time everything was on the up and
up; R-P actually owned this land uo there.
A chum on my block had a lawyer father, who examined the
certificate, checked it out, and found it was for real. HOWEVER! To
officiate the transfer of ownership from R-P to the cereal eater, the
deed had to be filed with the Yukon real estate office. As a lawyer,
the chum's father did this and got for his son a nice offical letter
confirming the transfer.
We grew up and parted ways.
In college I met this guy (he grew up, you see?) and he was all
excited. Some giant oil company tracked him down and offered to buy
his property in Yukon!!
He at first thought the letter was some scam, 'coz he completely
forgot about his childhood Ralston-Parina deed. He found it -- and the
papers of transfer -- and suddenly realized that something really big
was happening.
The oil firm supposedly found deposits under the R-P land and
found that virtually NONE of the cereal box papers were ever
formalized! R-P STILL OWNED THE LAND. SO the bulk of itwas duly sold
to from R-P to this oil outfit.
But select individual pieces, each one square inch in size, were
encumbered by having ownership elsewhere. These were the few whose
cereal eaters had the smarts to finish ff the transaction. To get
these pieces, the company had to scour the earth to find the new
onwers.
My friend was one of them and he was offered some tens of
thoudands of dollars (US of Canada, I forget) for his stupid inch
patch. Being in college with no money, he took the offer and got
'rich'.

You mean Chaotis Regio? The Mars Society already issued to all of
tis members (or those who asked for it~!) a fancy certificate
authroizing them to purchase land on Mars when a proper offer can be
made. In other words, you're allowed to buy land when it comes up for
sale, like in the 24th century, and are not precluded from doing so.
Except by life expiration long before then.
