Default OT Recommended Newsgroup Service

As some of you may know, Comcast is dropping access to newsgroups through
Giganews within a couple of weeks, so I'm scrambling to find a good (ie.,
reputable) alternate newsgroup access service. I have already tried a paid
subscription ($50 for 50Gb or 1 year) to YottaNews and, within one week, my
service has locked up and I've gotten no help from them. (Poor website
information, emails to their helpdesk are bounced back, no way to get a
refund...) Not a company I can recommend at all.

Giganews obviously has worked great for me for years, but their paid
subscriptions are a bit steep so I'm looking for alternatives. Among all
you great people at sci.space.policy, do you have any recommendations as to
a better service to look into? I need my daily space fix!

Thanks!

I'm in a similar boat, this was recommended to me by a friend, I haven't
tried it yet, but it would appear their per-download prices (if all you do
are text newsgroups) are hard to beat....

If you're happy with a well maintained, well connected and nearly
spam-free server with text-only newsgroups (no binaries), try
http://news.individual.net/ -- not free, but quite cheap.

Try this on for size:

My basic problem is that those math problems they used as an example
would be easy to figure out in regards to my own standards of "Have I
drunk too much to post?"... which goes something like this:
1.) Am I still able to sit upright in the chair in front of the computer?
2.) Do I know where the letter keys are basically at on the keyboard?
3.) Do I know how to activate the spelling check function before sending
the posting?
4.) Will I pick the right words to replace the misspelled ones in my
posting? Will I mistakingly choose "analism" for "animism", thereby
confusing my readers while at the same time appealing to their more
twisted and perverted instincts?
5.) Do I think that it would be a pretty fun thing to do if my posting
_did appeal_ to my reader's more twisted and perverted instincts?
5.) Will I wake up around ten hours down the line and have any
understanding of the replies to my posting regarding how goat's sexual
instincts resemble the facets of a diamond, and the profound meaning of
that insight in regards to goats, women, and engagement rings? ;-)

I'm afraid that I'm addicted to my aviation binaries. Any recommendations
for a service that allows that?

On Wed, 08 Oct 2008 19:21:18 GMT, in a place far, far away, "Vincent

glow in such a way as to indicate that:
