![]() I have just released the new version of my free Windows astronomy program RTGUI, version 2.0. An interface has been added for the popular Skycharts program (Cartes du Ciel). Now you can push a button and get an 'instant skychart' of the selected object. A number of other features have been added, plus a few bug fixes. RTGUI is a small, fast real-time 32-bit program for observers that gives continuously-updated, highly accurate information about celestial objects. The download size is under 400k. Its principal features a · Rapidly locate deep-sky objects or stars from catalogs, using GUI interface. Select objects by visibility. · Controls most Celestron and Meade "Goto" telescopes to slew directly to the selected object! · Using the Skycharts program (Cartes du Ciel, see http://www.stargazing.net/astropc/index.html ), get an "instant sky chart" of the selected object. · Locate Sun, Moon, and Planets, with excellent accuracy · Can set the "night vision" color palette in Windows. · Displays Altitude and Azimuth of Astronomical Objects, updated in Real-Time, along with Rise and Set times. · Automatically record object, time, & location information when the Observing Log is opened The program is at www.debunker.com/astro/rtguipage.html . The program is free for noncommercial users. If users of the program have any comments on it, I would appreciate hearing them. -- Robert Sheaffer - User name "Roberto" at debunker-dot-com Skeptical to the Max!
