Hi,
I've set up an new newsgroup called alt.cydonia. Many of the posts here
on this subject might be more on topic there. If people could try posting to
it to see if it's working in your area.

Hi. I saw your original proposal in alt.config and I suppport your new
group. I tried to post on it last night through Google, but it does
not recognize it yet. Lets get this thread going and maybe the spiders
will pick it up soon. By the way, I am trying to start a new group
too: alt.photography.digital because rec.photo.digital gets way to
much volume. I would appreciate any advice you may have as you
continue your journey! Peace!

You might have to request it from your isp. Alternatively you can post to it
by cross posting.

Not necessarily. alt. groups are carried or not, I guess depending on
the whim of each ISP. I would expect any new alt. group to show up on
Google _last_, if at all. Google is not Usenet, and should not
thought of as such.

Well, using Google as a search engine and typing in alt.cydonia gets a
page saying the group has been created, but it isn't being carried by my
ISP and looking at Google Groups
http://groups.google.com/groups?gidx=500&hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&group=alt
doesn't show it.
Presumably the next step would be to contact your ISP to ask them to
carry it.
