In Feb. 2008, I switched to a true SLRN filtering newsreader from
Microsoft Outlook Express. The above explains the process of
transitioning from Microsoft Outlook Express to a freeware true SLRN
filtering newsreader.

For those of you who remain hesitant to transition away from Microsoft
Outlook Express or Outlook for newsreading, it is hoped that the above
note will provide a roadmap to guide you through the process. Since
transitioning to an SLRN filtering newsreader in early February, the
usenet group sci.astro.amateur again has become an enjoyable read for
me.

Some good hints there, thank you.

Just as an aside, the News.Individual.Net server isn't just a web-based news
server, it's a full port-119 job. In addition they surpress quite a few
attacks fairly well.

I'd give individual.net a vote as well.

Me too! When I don't post from ssaf.se, I post from there!

Thanks to all for the feedback - both on and offline. I"ll beef up
the note on the European server individual.net. Any thoughts if
individual.net is slower when the client is in North America? Being
U.S. based was the only reason that I went with TeraNews instead of
individual.net. The TeraNews the main server is only one U.S. state
over from my news reading point. - Canopus56

As long as they have an anti-Chinese spam filter since the communist
Chinese government loving Google is giving free reign to every scumbag
counterfeiter to flood usenet.
