This from another astro group I read...
Come on folks, sign up and don't let the Government loose us another important resource ! Spread this about too, the more the merrier... Nick in Northallerton ______________________ Hi All, For all of us who are as shocked and annoyed as I am about the threat to Jodrell Bank's funding, there is an e-petition you can sign at the address below. It already has over 1000 signatures. If we can add ours, all will help to knock some sense into our government. The process of signing is relatively easy, name, e-mail address (kept private), address (kept private), then you will receive an e-mail confirming your signature, in which you click a confirmation link which will add your signature to the petition. Let's make our voices heard ! Clear, dark skies. --------------------------------------------- Many of you will be aware that the UK government is threatening to cut funding for the Jodrell Bank Observatory in Cheshire England. This would result in the closure of the Lovell radio telescope and the MERLIN project, and effectively end British involvement in radio astronomy. If you are a UK citizen, please follow the link below and sign the petition urging the Prime Minister to reverse this decision. http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/jodrellfunding/ |

BTW, 'citizens' of the UK are actually subjects of Her Gracious Majesty. The concept of ctizenship applies to constitutional democracies rather than constitutional monarchies. Same difference really! Petitions signed in my case. Pierre, a French citizen |
