Yet it'd be kinda scary to vote for a candidate that's
all "image", but no "substance".

Many people think they "know" who Hillary Clinton is.
Many people think they can "see" who Barack Obama is.
Many people think they can "fight" better with McCain.
Many people think Mitt Romney is definitely not a WASP.

All of these people really don't think.

Uh, let's see, I watch T.V. a lot, there's nobody else here.

Yeah, right.

Ron Paul is a real conservative, so much so that he isn't spending
money on his own campaign. What will he do with all those donations?
Why do I think he'll end up like Alan Keyes, and spend all of those
donations on himself when it is all over. I'd like to see or read
otherwise.

In ML baseball there was the so-called "Mendoza Line". It was the
batting average of a journeyman utility player that hit a little over .
200 for a long time. Anyway, that was enough to keep him in the ML
playing. Now if a new player came along and couldn't hit over what
Mendoza was doing it meant likely he was going to get cut. Over that
line and he'd live to play another week.

In politics, I am proposing the "Perot Line". What that means is that
if any independent or trailing Republican (like Huckabee or Paul) or
Democrat (like Edwards was or anyone other than Clinton and Obama)
can't keep enough percentage points as did Perot at the same time
during the 2000 election that they are in the same boat as ML players
WRT to the Mendoza Line.

Does Paul in Feb 2008 have as much support as did Perot in Feb 2000?

No, and politics isn't baseball, either.

Bad idea.

There is no politics in baseball?!? Look at the scandals including the
current one involving steriods where several ML players were brought
into Congress. Sorry, say what you will about baseball but it has
always been intertwined with politics. The president throwing out the
first pitch and all that. Heck, W better throw out the first pitch
this year as DC has a new ballpark! And he used to be part owner of
the Texas Rangers!!!

Besides this really is more about statistics and how a baseball stat
can be applied to a political stat. An analogy.

I take that point, although it's more coincidental and anecdotal than
analogous.
