The fear that never grows old... the end of the world at the Hayden
Planetarium, via Modern Mechanix, natch: http://blog.modernmechanix.com/2008/...roy-the-earth/ The five dooms a 1.) Sun blows up. 2.) Sun burns out. 3.) Rogue star hits Sun. 4.) Giant comet hits Earth ("science thinks it unlikely" although of all the scenarios presented, this one seems the most likely in the short run). 5.) Moon descends, pummels Earth with giant meteorites. Bring the kids, they'll love it! :-) Meanwhile... the threat of Islamo-Terro-Irano-Fascist airliners striking skyscrapers still exists. That's why in the future, skyscrapers should be able to have their own fighter squadrons on their roof. Where's Howard Roarke when you need him? http://blog.modernmechanix.com/2008/...y-of-tomorrow/ Pat |
