Default ASTRO - Our nearest neighbours - 61 CYG

Our nearest neighbours - 61 CYG

61 CYG, sometimes called Bessel's Star - Currently in 14th place

This is a binary system made up of a K5 and a K7 star at a distance of
11.36 light years. The long period variable v471 Cyg is noteworthy
becuase it is so much redder in IR than in G light. This is almost
always the case with variable stars of this type and is perhaps a
possible method for detecting previously uncatalogued examples.
