Default ASTRO: M-17, the Omega Nebula in Sagittarius

A 10:10:10:15 minute LRGB exposure with STL-1301E camera thru an OGS 20-inch
RC Cass working at around F/5. The field of view is about 20x25 arc minutes.
This is another old image from early September that I've just gotten around
to processing.

In October I was at Cherry Springs State Park in Pennsylvania (a well known
'dark sky' astro location) for a long weekend. There was a guy from England
on holiday in the US who came over to look at M-17 in my Obsession 20 Dob
with UHC filter. He said "Looks just like a swan!" Which it did! However,
the English guy was more impressed by the coyote pack howling nearby than he
was with M-17!

For more info on M-17, see: http://www.kopernik.org/images/archive/m17.htm

For a bit there I thought you had a time machine with those August and
September shots.

I have lots of swans here.

Third character is a zero rather than a capital "Oh".

Rick,

I still have some more of those late summer images to process!

.....
I have lots of swans here.

I bet that an O-III filter doesn't help too much with observing these
swans........
