Default ASTRO: IC 5076

I took this several months ago and thought I'd posted it but can't find
I had so hope this isn't a duplicate.

IC 5076 is a reflection nebula in or beside the open star cluster NGC
6991. Seems there's two open clusters in this shot. Maybe three.
William Herschel says the stars in and around IC 5076 is the cluster now
known as NGC 6991 but his son John described the stars southwest (down
and right) of the nebula as the cluster. Some current catalogs as well
as SIMBAD consider NGC 6991 to be a much larger cluster centered to the
North East of the nebula and including both the Herschel clusters as
well. NED gives up and doesn't even list NGC 6991. But since I'm
taking IC 5076 that's all moot! But if you want more on this debate use
the link below and enter NGC 6991 in the search box.

Correct domain name is arvig and it is net not com. Prefix is correct.
Third character is a zero rather than a capital "Oh".

Rick,

I'm not sure we should let you get away with that excuse.......

However, this is certainly a beautiful image of an interesting object. There
seems to be some dark nebulosity just to the right of the reflection nebula.

Great picture Rick. Just saw it at "Usenet Replayer". This nebula looks
quite "spooky".

I thought it somewhat spooky as well and thought I had put it out for
Halloween for just that reason but then forgot. My wife though says it
looks like a dove to her. Not at all spooky.
