I'm making visual comparisons of Comet Holmes with delta Per (the 3.0 mag
star next to it). Last night the comet definitely looked brighter than the star, maybe 2.6 or 2.7. Two evenings earlier I estimated them to be nearly equal. Whatever is going on, it definitely isn't fading to any significant degree. (I put on my reading glasses to do this, which blurs the stars and comet to similar diameters. Makes the estimation process much more straightforward). -- Mike Dworetsky (Remove pants sp*mbl*ck to reply) |
