Hello guys!
I was trying to write a paper on "seti" in my language .... Right now, I'm having trouble pronouncing the words "Arecibo" and "Parkes". Can you please help me regarding this? "Arecibo" --- Arkibo "Parkes" ----- Par' kes is that right? Thanks. raqueeb hassan bangladesh |

The Australian pronunciation would be with a broader A sound and the R would be silent or nearly so. It would be somewhere between Parks and Pox. If you can get a copy of the movie "The Dish" you can hear how Aussie actors say it a least. |

sorry to be awkward .... but ..
When I was a kid .... I loved watching one of the aussie TV show built around Parkes observatory. Two young kids (a boy and a girl) were there .... I forgot the name .... but I know for sure .. it's not "the dish" ... can you please tell me the name of that tv series? thanks in advance. raqueeb hassan |
