Several articles online, a release and a paper from an international
team of astronomers announce the discovery by the Trans-atlantic Exoplanet Survey of TrES-3. TrES-3 is a transiting planet that they report blocks about 2.5 percent of the light of the star during a transit and is about 800 L.Y. and very hot at 1,500 degrees Kelvin. Some articles: Article - Massive Transiting Planet with 31-hour Year Found Around Distant Star http://www.spacedaily.com/reports/Ma..._Star_999.html Newly Discovered Planet Orbits in Just 31 Hours http://www.universetoday.com/categor...solar-planets/ Article - Astronomers Overwhelmed by Flood of New Planets http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,281703,00.html And from the source - TrES-3 and the Trans-atlantic Exoplanet Survey http://www.astro.caltech.edu/~ftod/tres/tres3.html Their paper's abstract - TrES-3: A Nearby, Massive, Transiting Hot Jupiter in a 31-Hour Orbit http://arxiv.org/abs/0705.2004 And the pre-print paper itself - http://arxiv.org/PS_cache/arxiv/pdf/...705.2004v1.pdf Keep searching, Jason H. __________________________ http://setisociety.org |
