Last Updated Thu, 30 Mar 2006 12:10:57 EST
CBC News

A Quebec man escaped with minor injuries early Thursday after the
minivan he was driving fell into a huge sinkhole, which has cut off
access to a small Quebec town.

Police say the sinkhole - which measures nine metres wide and six
metres deep - opened up on the road into Sainte-Victoire-de-Sorel,
east of Montreal, around 1 a.m. Thursday.
Firefighters prepare to pull a minivan from the sinkhole near
Sainte-Victoire-de-Sorel, east of Montreal. (CBC)

The driver injured his collarbone when his vehicle hydroplaned across
the collapsing roadway and into the hole. ...

Don't tell frootbat about this sinkhole! He'll probably claim it's
the end of the Earth! Meanwhile, when it eats New York, let me know.
That should give me plenty of warning!

Shhh!

I'm *not quite sure why* but La Belle Province seems to have all the
biggest and best sink holes in Canada. There is nothing scientific to
my claim. It just seems that way.

Hmmm ..

Default More Troubling Planetary News - CA Flood Alert!

FLOOD WARNING for CALIFORNIA

In the state where they used to say, "It never rains," continuing
torrential downpours have put almost the entire area between San
Franciso and Los Angeles on Flood Alert! Residents of the San Joaquin
Valley beware! South Bay, CA has boulders lying on coastal roadways,
washed down by the storms.

This may be the most rain they've had in California since the days of
Noah! Speaking of Noah, ... er ... NOAA, here are the official
warnings:

Here in paradise its over 60 for the first time this year! I guess
that means that spring is finally here.

What's up with Mt. St. Helens?
Any predictions on when it will blow ...
Do people have 'pools' betting on it?

March 2006
via Daily Update, March 2, 2006: The new dome?s summit altitude
currently is about 7,550 feet, towering about 400 feet above the 1980s
dome as seen from the U.S. Forest Service?s Coldwater visitor center.
But that?s still below the 7,770-foot altitude reached last July,
before collapse of a previous spine, and well below the crater rim,
which is mostly above 8,100 feet except at Shoestring Notch or
northward where the crater opens outward toward the roadheads.

Double-A Southern CA is a desert, and water and desert sand makes heavy
mud slides. Mountains, and hills give this mud great speed, and weight
plus speed equals force. This force can not be stopped, and takes every
thing with it. No rain in Florida again. Ground water going down and
down. Birds not flying as much. Small bugs on the move. Gators on the
move. 89F again Grass turning to hay. My oak tree is late to
bud. Nice part is grass does not need to be cut. TreBert
