I don't understand why are these pictures in black and white?
Why? Don't they have a technology to send color pictures?
Could someone explain?

These initial pictues are taken by a navigational camera, not the main one,
which is not unstowed yet.

Color pictures will follow. The B&W's come not from the main photo
camera, but from the "where the heck am I, what's in my way?" camera
that the rover will use to stay out of trouble. No reason it should
be in color.

btw - even if you have only B&W cameras, you can get color pictures by
shooting through a series of colored lenses, then combining the
images.

come back on 4th. I am just interested... are these posted
