Default Closing the Tech Gap: China’s Spaceplane

"That’s right, the rumors appear to be true. Beijing
is joining the United States as the only nations with
reusable spaceplane designs that are actually
conducting test flights. Beijing reportedly sent its
Divine Dragon — or Shenlong — space plane aloft
for a successful atmospheric test flight in January,
2011."

Big friggn' deal; they're only 40 years behind the times.

It's not the velocity, it's the acceleration.

Hopefully they'll accelerate so fast they'll snap their dirty communist
necks.

So far, they're just replicating what others have already done. If they
ever start to innovate, then I'd be scared.

For a "commercial" metric, even the Chinese say that they can't match
SpaceX's prices. To me, that's a big ray of hope for the US, and the
West in general.

I can't stand communists or any other dictators; they are the opposite
of what I believe in.

But the question isn't about their dictatorship, it is about their
technical capabilities and its deployment, and to dismiss that seems
rather short-sighted.

And it's not like China is trying do this as part of the Great Leap
Forward; their mercantile base is important to the skill sets and
materials needed.
