And $1500 is about $500 more than $1000 and then a Uncle Rod said, you get
tangled up in the TAK accessories or so it seems, I have only watched that

from
a distance.

Its not too bad for an FS or FC series scope for visual use. You can use
third party rings, visual back and finder if you choose. The focuser
threads are Japanese standard (Borg, Vixen, etc). The finder bracket is
high but not too pricey and any finder will work in it. Hutech sells a nice
set of rings that will work with the FS102, even painted Tak green. So you
don't have to pay anymore for the extras for the TAK than you do for the
Orion really.

Bad news, Rod.

WE all know what the Meade APO's did to AP's business!

Hehe, nice point. And to think that Diebel once threatened to put AP out of
business. The threat to the higher-end APOs isn't life-threatening, perhaps,
nor is it driven by megalomania, but it is imminent and probably
long-lasting.

Myself, I don't think so... People will always pay more for something that is
better, even if it is just a little bit better.

Not entirely accurate, you just need to show a legitimate need to have
a gun, such as being a farmer or registered sporting shooter etc.
As an Australian I think thats a good thing. Less guns makes for a
safer society.

F--- need. Try WANT. That's democracy.
I love my SW 686.

Jon
My understanding is that the Genesis is not color free by any means and at
least some people find that they are somewhat fragile in terms of holding
collimation. These are also two quite different scopes, the TV is something
around F5.

color in the Genesis, it depends on whether it's the later SDF or
the original Genesis. The SDF is very nicely color corrected even for
f/5.4 and I'd be surprised if the Orion was better. And color is not
the only way to evaluate optics, though it does get the most press!
At any rate, what I think the poster meant whom you responded to is
that for a couple of hundred bucks more the Genesis is going to have a
much better build quality and is certainly much more versatile
visually and photographically.

Trolls are beings who reside on the evolutionary scale somewhere just above
pond scum and just below top posters. g
