- There's a rumor running rampant that even the
notoriously tight Dr. H. L. Lester has been giving
the ED the eye. How cheap is Lester? When he
takes a dollar bill out of his wallet, George
Washington blinks at the light.

I gave it the eye, it heard me cry, so I said to some guy, "THIS thing I'll
buy!"

So I dood it. It should arrive here Friday or Monday. I'm told the crawdad
focuser is covered with fine Corinthian leather, and that the ED glass is
named after some guy named Escutcheon Dinglehoffer, who invented Colgate's
invisible shield in the 1950's. "Dingy" was just slightly ahead of his time.

What - that I bought a telescope?

Congratulations

Thank you! I bought it from Anacortes. (*note deep hushed voice*
"Anacortes: the leader in astronomical and sports optics since
eighteen-eighty-one.") It'll be ridin' side-saddle on mah Bogen. And if
you've ever ridden side saddle on a Bogen, you know how painful that can be.
(I have no idea what any of this means...)

So how does one compensate for the balancing? What does one need for a
EQ5
mount with tube rings to make sure it will balance with or without a
camera
or diagonal?

Add weight to the objective end as needed.

No, I found this bit of whimsy quite enchanting....

Way to go Skywatcher!!

SKYWATCHER is NOT ORION ASSHOLE!!

Also, ORION 80ED is 499 at wild bird

I _think_ he means that the Skywatcher's entry into the 80mm ED market
is probably responsible for the price drop. BTW, why the potty mouth
language?

Me, I'm just trying to imagine you with a personality.

However, your crayfish focuser remark was pure genius. Even allowing
for the fact that it was not the first use of the term, I'm giving you
some serious props for that beauty.

Keep dreamin!

The crayford is a friction based mechanism and not gear based as in a rack
and pinion
design. THIS SUCKS...because the crawfish will have a tendency to extend
itself if a camera
or heavy panoptic and/ or diagonal is attached with the Orion or Skywatcher
pointed more
verticle. I would NEVER buy a crayfish crayford based focuser design.

BTW, judging others just makes you a judge of others!!

It uses a crayfish focuser...

The mind boggles.

Mr. Mick implies that the crayfish focuser slips when stressed by
photography equipment. At first impression, I would think that the claws
should be sufficient to prevent slippage. Possibly I am misunderstanding
the installation. Would someone be so kind as to post a photo of a
crayfish focuser in use, to help me visualize the setup?
