work, and when they recast the Pink Panther it didn't work....

And of the movies you cite - you also find the writing and plotting
sucked badly. It's hard to assert honestly that the only cause of the
movies not working is recasting.

in fact one of the few cases it did work in was the new Star Trek movie.

And how many Bond's now? How many Batmen?
