In any events, were his comments about the Soviet Union _inaccurate_?

Yep, thank God you weren't president at the time. Think about it.
You'd have been Truman's replacement. He had already nuked Japan. And
here you are talking about nuking Russia 4 years later. Where would it
have stopped?! Our fear was that Hitler would have ended up being
someone that wanted to nuke everybody, just like you!
