While the Deities themselves may be equally unreal, their believers are real. Some religious teachings promote peaceful behavior, others justify aggression against outsiders. That is a grounds for having a preference between equally false religious beliefs. I agree. Are you astonished yet? I'm not discussing the believers, though. I'm not even discussing their beliefs, just their imaginary deities. Just as soon as we learn to communicate effectively with some other intelligent animal species, we need to query them on their deities. I guessing they will be equally imaginary. That's just a hypothesis. Thomas, just get a dog that worships you. You'll feel a lot better. I already have many little birds and a cat that hate me. I feed them anyways. The squirrels love me though. I import black walnuts for them. Already they've built a second condo, and are expecting another family. I guess my whole point is that you have lots of energy on religion. I don't like religious nuts anymore than the next actual thinking person, but I don't get bent out of shape in the presence of a true believer. Why attack the true believers? Is it worth your energy? I think not. Better to teach their kids the truth. |
