In the past, I’ve read that because of the Vietnam War, the US lost its direction for space exploration after Apollo 11 landed on the moon. Today, I’ve read that because of the war in Iraq and terror, man will not be going to Mars anytime soon, and perhaps only limited manned exploration of the moon (depending on the presidents in the next 10-15 years). Then I hear that the idiot Obama wants to “postpone” Project Constellation for 5 years so he can fund his education programs if he becomes president (hopefully, he will not; too liberal in my opinion, and too stupid). If I believe correctly, isn’t the Constellation program all being done within the confines of NASA’s current annual budget? Does that mean, Obama intend to slash NASA’s budget to fund his so-called education programs? Then, I checked out the following link, and it makes me even more angrier. http://www.cfiflistmanager.org/globalpovertyact3he.html Obama is a complete idiot. He is just as bad as Walter Mondial was back in 1984 when he vowed to curtail, or even scrapped, manned exploration of outer space and put the money “saved” into social programs. That’s probably why he lost big time. Perhaps the moron should re-read his history. Obama is a person who is stuck in the past and is not interested in looking towards the future. And in the end, everybody pays the price for such stupidity. I fear it is even worse than you suggest. As you know I feel and have always felt that unmanned exploration yields more cost effective results than manned. However we now know a little bit more about Obama. If he postpones Consellation will he insitute a program of unmanned exploration and AI? There is this evangelical preacher who talks about America "deserving" 9/11. Obama has didtanced himself from his more extreme rantings. At the back of my mind is 3KPa. This is the (maximum) distance light will have travelled since the Garden of Eden. Obama has NOT distanced himself from Creationalism. He may well be not only anti space (manned) but anti science in general. "Crusade" may indeed be the right word to use. I am British, and I don't have a vote. Hillary would I think have been the preferred choice, but I would vastly prefer McCain to Obama who is in fact a very conservative Democrat. In many respects he is like Bush, only worse. - Ian Parker |
