Default NASA Needs A Bigger Ares V

Except you need a lot of Delta IV-Heavies for the lunar missions, and
it isn't clear the infrastucture can handle it (at least, we'd need to
build LC-37A to complement 37B and probably a second Delta Mariner.)

The Mariner is under utilized. No need for another one. Also why
just Delta- IV H, Atlas V Heavy would be available with an EELV
architecture. Also with bringing more inhouse work, Delta II and so
to be Atlas V, Decatur can no longer put out 40 CBC's per year

And you have to pay the cost of shutting down KSC. Ask the military
how much shutting down bases ended up costing... it wasn't cheap.

KSC would not be shut down only LC-39. Contrary to common thought,
KSC is not just shuttle. The lunar payloads would be processed at KSC

Default NASA Needs A Bigger Ares V

..

despite I suggested it FOUR months BEFORE with my FAST-SLV article,
the (FAST-SLV-like but FOUR months LATER) "Direct" is a dead end
concept, no matter how big the Direct-lobby is and how many Direct-
supporters runs the web...

the Orion needs a rocket also for orbital missions, so, the Ares-1 is
a possible solution and may work, if CHANGED from the current design
to a 4-segments SRB + J-2Y superengine

this change is also absolutely necessary since the twin-5-seg.SRB
Ares-5 is underpowered and may need three standard SRB to carry the
planned payload
