Set to heavy stun no doubt.

100X the power of that dual laser beam, and lo and behold, we could
replace those messy bullets and any trace of GR with forensic proof
laser beams that could cut a skull open at a thousand yards. Sounds
like my kind of weapon.

I remember the pacifist heroes of the Saturday morning SF show "Ark II" had
weapons that harmlessly dazzled enemies with a brilliant light to halt their
approach and temporarily blind them. Now here it is.

Kinda reminds me of how the Scots would charge into battle wearing
full-length ball gowns covered with sequins, to blind the enemy.

I can make a microwave laser out of G1004 + MN that kills at a hefty
distance.

Yeah, but the funny thing is they would charge around in the ball gowns even
when the enemy wasn't around!

Cut to Graham Chapman's stern Brigadier saying, "It's silly! (And a bit
suspect, I think!)".

Hey, maybe sequin-covered ball gowns would be an effective defense against
laser weaponry.

I recall an article some years ago that explained the military was not
looking at lethal antipersonnel lasers because, given the power
requirements and costs for a laser, it was cheaper and easier just to
use bullets when you wanted to kill someone.

Yep.Up close..22 Long back of the skull.
But anyway, the National Bureau of Standards (Now NIST) was growing rubies
for lasers in the early 70's.I propose resonant Germanium doped Garnet-
Iron+Manganese (there should have been a small n up there)
