You can take two trees, reduce them to wood pulp, and combine the pulp

equivalent of adding two trees together (regardless of species) and
making one bigger tree.

Similarly, if you take a stable broom, clean out two horse stalls, and
combine the results, you only get a bigger pile of horse ****.

You will still have two horses to clean up after.
