Having never been to this area before I was hoping that someone in this group could tell me whether it is possible to use a Telescope and/or take astrophotographs, at that time of year. I am told that the Albiano area is free from light pollution so it would be a shame to miss out on some good skies even though it might be not very dark in late July. Can anyone provide advice? - I have a Coronado PST but I will be walking for most of the day so the nightime stuff looks the better option. regards Robert There are two small towns with names having Albiano in it and one isn't in a too good position as far as light pollution is concerned. The other one seem a far better location (Albiano Magra) and all the times I have been driving beside it during night time the sky was clear, no mist and darkish sky. As far astronomical night you have at least 3 good hours at that time of the year (compared to none in the UK). I would think it is a good overall bet that, yes, its worth taking astro gear with you if el nino doesn't alter the normal pattern of summer weather in central italy, which is normally very good at that time of the year.
