20h UTC coords: 13 19 s 11 45 cent long trmntr: w 71.98d sin long: -.095 ecc ell 0.3 dist: 252 372 mi / 406 154 km diam: 29.4' illum: 97.7% Features: N- Hevelius, Cavalerius, Briggs, Lichtenberg Bright/dark lavas, Rayed crater, N limb fair Libration: e 0.55d, n 4.34d at 0h trmntr xing Struve at 0h Moon is ca 2.0d S of Spica S-Damoiseau, Sirsalis + rilles, Byrgius, Schickhard, Schiller Basin, S Highlands... at 0h trmntr xing Grimaldi Moon trav 10.84d @ 0.45 d/h Asteroid 4 Vesta is an easy target for small binos in the early am. Look North of Jupiter to Eta Ophiuchi (Sabik) then West to a group of 6 mag points. The westernmost and brightest is Vesta. It is currently in retrograde motion (ie backing up toward the West) at ca 15 sec/h. I made it this am with a 6x30 bino. |
