I'm trying to phrase this kindly...

....this is some very... imaginative... police work.

The majority of these "meteor starts fire" stories come out of the third
world. Sad to see it from Germany. I guess the police can't be expected
to know better, but the folks at Bochum Observatory should have set them
straight. While it is a virtual certainty that the fire wasn't caused by
a meteor at all, the suggestion that it was caused by an Orionid (which
is how I interpret this) is especially ludicrous.

Space junk lands just as cold as meteorites do. I think the guy was
smoking in bed, but a meteor sounds better.
