About 50% of the ghosting and noise is absent in the raw downlink. Remember, the way everyone saw it - including those at JSC - was that a normal NTSC B&W camera was pointed at a monitor, which was necessary because the scan rates for the A11 TV cameras were to different to allow for ease of conversion to standard NTSC or even PAL/SECAM.
