I was at the RSCD meeting tonight, been at lest 3 months since I went.
Tonight I found out that there is almost 3,000 home lots that have the ok
or are in the first stage of being graded around the west side of
Rosamond. Plus they belive that there will be at lest 600 more per year in
the way of building permits given out. So it was good that I was able to
get them to set the types of street lights, and they even set the type of
poles and how far apart they will be. No longer a hogpoge of types of
lights. At lest I was able to get them to do that.

Are the street lights the Dark Sky Initiative friendly LED type?

The LED ones have not been fully approved for massive useage, I've checked
the company web sites some months back and even they said not for major
develmonts as of yet. But the are in the code now for the full cutoff new
style crobahead lights, like what cal-trans uses on the freeways now. Plus
the state a fied hight of the pole and even what kind of pole they can use.
Before I started giving them the IDA data, anyone could put up any kind of
lights in the area of new homes. Because of my supplying them with data and
such, they now have an offical street lighting code which is now law.

At lest it's a little step in the right way.

Hey that's more than "a little step"! Your actions will have a major
impact on keeping light pollution down. Great going!
