Go back to the SOTU last year.

Thank you. Someone else pointed to the correct page and
that is where I found out what SOTU was.

Default Claims of secret Bush space agenda

I've read several times now that the new Bush plan for NASA is a cover-up to
"militarize space." Let me take a moment to note this is absurd.

It's humorous to see people talk serious about the
disgusting prospect of "militarizing space". The fact
is that space was militarized from the very beginning
and has continuously been increasingly militarized up
to the present day. What was the first ever exo-
atmospheric payload? The warhead on a V2 rocket.
Look at the uses of space, the military uses have
always been on a par with, and sometimes beyond, the
commercial or peaceful uses. GPS is a military system.
Weather satellites have a combined military / civilian
heritage. Then there's the fleet of DSP, optical and
radio reconnaissance, ELINT and sundry other satellites.
Then you have the thousands of nuclear warheads on
ICBMs, LRBMs and other launch vehicles capable of
travelling through space. If that weren't enough you
have the ballistic missile heritage of most launch
vehicles. Oh, and don't forget Almaz.

I'm not really sure what bizarre fantasy world some
people live in where a military manned space plane or
an orbital laser would be so, so, so much worse than
the already existing situation whereby literally
thousands of megatons of nuclear destruction can come
raining down from space on a moment's notice. All I
know is that it must be an extensively odd world to
have such confused perception.

A paid lobbyist for a foreign country is a specific term and means
the person has registered with the U.S. government.

I didn't mean that he was literally a registered lobbyist. I simply
meant that he was in the pay of Saddam.
