Afternoon all,
Just thought I'd share the image that I took last night of SN2006X in M100 (type Ia for those who are interested). I used the OU's Meade LX200 16" with a SBIG STL-1001 and a clear filter (the sky is way too polluted to try it with a V, B or R filter). http://observatory.open.ac.uk/news.html and follow the link It should be quite an easy target for you all as it has a visual magnitude of roughly 15.0 (and brightening). Cheers, JohnT http://physics.open.ac.uk/~jdtanner |

Hi John, Pity about the moon . I would be tempted to try for a low resolution spectrum, but mag15 is about my limit in perfect conditions. Hopefully it will not be long past maximum when the moon is out of the way.
