Hi Guys,
Thanks for the good comments and feedback. On 26 Jan 2006 01:50:37 -0800, wrote: I put that firmware in my 300D about 2 months ago and now the bloody red-eye light wont stop flashing ![]() Oops - is there any record of this problem on the web Rob? I must admit I've not heard of it before. Neither had I and I was going to update the firmware this weekend so I'll hold fire until. Thanks for the comments Pete, it's certainly a breeze using the camera and I'm sure with more practise I can get more out of it. Re the comment about the Moon image - Pete's right - the actual exposure was 1/200 at 100ISO so at that exposure there would be no camera shake (I'll update the site to mention this). I also use a long cable release and stand a few feet away from the scope to minimise extraneous vibrations - especially when it's freezing and I'm tempted to stamp my feet to keep warm :-) Got some images of the BY Cnc Saturn event and will be putting some up soon on my site - only saw the star just after it left the disk but it was quite something - glad the sky behaved and gave me enough clear patches to get some avi's . best wishes Paul -- For my web site - Astrospace go to http://www.astrospace.co.uk For Astro holidays that are outathis world go visit the following: Fieldview http://www.fieldview.net/ COAA (Algarve) http://www.coaa.co.uk/index.html |

Forgive the question but how are you triggering the camera? IR remote release. |

Doh ! Sorry - didn't read the original post enough.....and had just been experimenting with my Nikon D70 (which doesn't have mirror lock either)... So how does your D70 perform? Have you tried it with a telescope on moon or planets (or anything at all with fast shutter speed)? From the answers I get here I can only draw the conclusion it's something very wrong with my D70. When I pratice the "hat trick", everything works just fine. |

Im sorry, but as of yet, it doesn't perform at all. I've just been making sure I can get it to focus properly with the adaptors I have and haven't actually had time to take it outside at night and image anything yet ! (The only chance I have had so far this year - due to clouds and business travel- I used my Toucam to image Saturn) So far, I only have some blurry shots of a screw head on my shed door 60m down the garden.... I'm going to get one of Hap Griffin's D70 cables http://www.hapg.org/astrocables.htm though and try and get it set up with either images plus or MaximDL. To be honest, I probably won't even use it much with my current scope (LX200 10") and am really getting ready for when I get a wider field scope - probably a short tube 80ED or similar to piggyback on the LX. |
