Default Court case and science and the supernatural

This should be interesting to keep an eye on. Is it legal to teach
intelligent design?.

Thanks, Ray, that was very interesting. This article and its
links kept me enthralled for over an hour!

I was especially drawn to the "10 Missing Links" section.
And i learned a few things i didn't know. I used to think
that Lucy (A.afarensis) came *after* A.africanus, stuff like
that.

Robert Ardrey was one of the first to write about the human
link to the more apelike A.africanus, and the story about its
discovery by Raymond Dart in South Africa is astounding.
Anybody interested might want to pick up a copy of Ardrey's
_African Genesis_...

On a highway to the sky,
That's the trip for you and I,
Find the gods who make you cry
On the highway to the sky.

Many wonders catch your eye,
Puzzles tease and mystify,
Some you solve and some you sigh
On that highway to the sky.

"Sprinkling Holy Water, while chanting prayers,
From willow's bark,

Cupola drew sleeping spirits ~ Barking larks,
Sparrow's Song of Vespers, by arrow's
Flight reborn, Folly's Quill scribbles a snaring
Garden path meandering, her gloss,
Landscaped within Forest's Marginalia,
Her complimentary commentary ..."

"A crystal lens, by mourning, gilding lily's valley
Morning light, perfected, dappled doubly,

Through mirror
Magnified,
Whether by Distance of History,
A Treatise On Telescopes,

Or Hart's broken
Heart mended, Love by Leaf, spoken
Foliate tracery, mere matter of facts
Rendered lovingly, by hand of Nature obeyed ~

A Branch of Knowledge,
Fledgling sprout, by garden's sheers, cut
Out of darkness, replanted, by topiary."
~ Mum

"Broken bone reset, mended lovingly,
By intention's pattern, human hand, a lattice ascending ...
Thought's reflexive Self Knowledge,
Heart's fulfilling Prophecy of Need
Made known, sown, spoken word, visible deed,

A seed.
A seedling.
A fledgling fertilized.
A blessing.

Story's delight, path of pen,
Path of light outrun, reborn,
Hearken larks again ~ !"

How rousing, our feverfew,

Brewed something very swell,

If Blanc, your spirit, very chilled, if not,
If Pinot Noir, temperature of room,

The Lady sparkles, but Knights enlighten.
Is the Noir Light dark and chilly ...

Or is the night a flight of wily willful stars,
A spiral galaxy, a flight of stairs ~ ?"

Hi Painius,

Then you have read more about it than I ;-)

Frankly I couldn't get into it, though the real science side is
interesting the overall arguments just turn me off. I think it's the
religious involvement that I cannot accept. I'm an atheist.

Although there are problems with 'missing links' I'm sure it will
resolve itself in time and it won't depend on any intervention by a god.

Now something like the simulation argument I do find very interesting.

You're in good company, Ray... Asimov, Einstein, many
great men had problems with religion (if not God). For
me, God's existence is a given, although i don't usually
discuss such things here. It has something to do with my
having extreme difficulty believing that human beings are
the top form of life in the Universe. g

Although there are problems with 'missing links' I'm sure it will
resolve itself in time and it won't depend on any intervention by a god.

Me too! Unprovables are always intriguing. And
the logic of sims theory can be engaging if not gripping.

Oh! Selene! what a beautiful planet!
Such wonders, maria, those craters that span it,
And how 'bout those phases--Full, New, and in Quarter?
Why, if it were possible, I'd LOVE to import her!

Ah! but she's HUGE, a full planet no doubt,
And 'til this is seen we'll continue to SHOUT!
Yea! 'til people make that Moon a king to our queen,
We safeguard the secrets of planet Selene.
