This article and its links kept me enthralled for over an hour! I was especially drawn to the "10 Missing Links" section. And i learned a few things i didn't know. I used to think that Lucy (A.afarensis) came *after* A.africanus, stuff like that. Robert Ardrey was one of the first to write about the human link to the more apelike A.africanus, and the story about its discovery by Raymond Dart in South Africa is astounding. Anybody interested might want to pick up a copy of Ardrey's _African Genesis_... http://tinyurl.com/ct4hx happy days and... starry starry nights! -- On a highway to the sky, That's the trip for you and I, Find the gods who make you cry On the highway to the sky. Hi Painius, Then you have read more about it than I ;-) Frankly I couldn't get into it, though the real science side is interesting the overall arguments just turn me off. I think it's the religious involvement that I cannot accept. I'm an atheist. Although there are problems with 'missing links' I'm sure it will resolve itself in time and it won't depend on any intervention by a god. Now something like the simulation argument I do find very interesting. http://tinyurl.com/ct4hx happy days and... starry starry nights! -- On a highway to the sky, That's the trip for you and I, Find the gods who make you cry On the highway to the sky. I think it's the religious involvement that I cannot accept. I'm an atheist. You're in good company, Ray... Asimov, Einstein, many great men had problems with religion (if not God). For me, God's existence is a given, although i don't usually discuss such things here. It has something to do with my having extreme difficulty believing that human beings are the top form of life in the Universe. g Although there are problems with 'missing links' I'm sure it will resolve itself in time and it won't depend on any intervention by a god. Now something like the simulation argument I do find very interesting. Me too! Unprovables are always intriguing. And the logic of sims theory can be engaging if not gripping. happy days and... starry starry nights! -- Oh! Selene! what a beautiful planet! Such wonders, maria, those craters that span it, And how 'bout those phases--Full, New, and in Quarter? Why, if it were possible, I'd LOVE to import her! Ah! but she's HUGE, a full planet no doubt, And 'til this is seen we'll continue to SHOUT! Yea! 'til people make that Moon a king to our queen, We safeguard the secrets of planet Selene.
