Sorry for the delay replying guys, been away in Japan.

Thanks for all your replies and for sharing your wisdom. I think I may just
sign up to www.Slooh.com which seems to offer the answer to a lot of the
problems I experience -- not just the cumbersome nature of some scopes, but
also the cloudy skies and difficulty getting a view of the sky from an
apartment.

I'm looking forward to it! It may not be right for everyone but it fits my
needs
