![]() I own several of the Series 4000 Meade EPs in both 1.5 and 2 inch barrel diameters from 40mm to 6.4mm and am very pleased with them. I can't really compare them against anything else as these are all I have. I like them a lot. They give good clear views when seeing permits. They seem well made and do the job they say they do. I also have a GSO 2" 26mm plossl which is very good (and cheap - £25 or so) but doesn't seem to give quite as colourful views as the Meades. I also used to have a regular Meade 5mm plossl (don't know what series) but it was rubbish... Hope this helps. I would say you are best buying EPs on eBay or online from the USA. You will get them for less than half the price than that charged by most UK dealers. thanks both. got a few 4000's on the way to me now, so time will tell whether these turn the dust collector into something that is semi useable. cheers, dave |
