Hi Gareth

Nice one; done!

Remarks Section:

66

As an observational astrophysicist, light pollution is a big problem for
me.

One of my first professional tasks (in 1972) was to measure how London
lit up the night sky (very detrimentally, and it's now much worse!)

Also, light pollution is a pointless and completely avoidable waste of
energy coming mostly from non-renewable fuels.

I have previously floated the idea that streetlighting was a nightime
sink for the nuclear plants which can't just be switched off when the
offices and shops close. I can't remember if there was any educated
response to this brilliant notion. Any thoughts? :-)

Hi Chris

LOL! A very good thought. Of course, now that carbon is becoming such an
issue in the world's climate it will not be long before the graphite
used in control rods in nuclear piles becomes a Class A Substance
punishable with a minimum of death. Then we'll certainly have to dump
lots of energy to prevent them from exploding right away!
