I seem to recall posting this here before but i will ask again just to be sure ![]() Has anyone had a go of one of these fine english made bits of kit? After some opinions as to weather they are worth the £700+ price tag(exspensive optics version)? I've got one. It's a lovely bit of kit, very solid mechanically with no noticeable mirror flop from the moving-mirror focusser. I use mine mainly for planetary observing from my light-polluted urban garden and it works a treat for that. The long focal length means you can get away with longer eyepieces for a given magnification than with most scopes, which may be a factor if you wear glasses. Disadvantages are the cooldown time (common to all Maks thanks to the thick corrector) and the narrow FOV. The limited aperture and FOV mean it's not great for DSOs, so I wouldn't suggest it as an only scope unless your interests don't go far beyond lunar and planetary observing.
