In one of the most crass pieces of journalism ever seen, CNN
interviewed the Columbia Mission Controller during final appoach, and
showed pictures of the break-up over Texas in the background.
There must have been shades of "Worlds at War" for people switching on
in the middle of all that!

'twas an IR camera. they'd been using the same kit to show the shuttle
landing training vehicle earlier in the broadcast.
