If I look south, I can make out the teapot and the top of the fish hook, the
rest is lost in the dome of sky glow from Lancaster, Palmdale, L.A..

To the East it's far better because that away is Edwards AFB and the bit of
skyglow from the main base area doesn't really do much unless it's overcast.

To the North is Mojave a small town that burns as much power as a big city!
It's a hub point for highways and with truck stops, railroad yards, etc. So
they light up everything. But the hills between Mojave and Rosamond blocks
most of the light.

Right now to the west is small yard lights ( which I've seen grow in numbers
these past 7 years ), BUT there is going to be something like 25,000 homes,
shopping centers, etc. build in the Tjon ranch lands and that will be as bad
as Lancaster/Palmdale.

My eyesight is not as good as it used to be, for me I can see down to about
mag 4 I guess, and I can make out the starfields overhead in the summer
traigle. For better viewing I use my 10 x 50's, with my 20 x 80's I have to
use my glasses and that can be a pain.

It's still better than what I would have if I lived down in L.A. ( or even
Palmdale ).

Well, to be honest, I don't have anything near as obstrusive as that bank
of lights staring at your driveway. . .but my goodness, your overall sky
and horizon conditions look great to me. That would have to be part of
the
trade.

Just curious. . .how faint of stars can you see naked eye from the trailer
park?
