Default Tal 2M - collimation

Apologies, but my new scope has probably contributed to the gathering of the
orange cloudy things upstairs. It will hopefully wear off soon.

I need to collimate a Tal 2m, and this looks reasonably straight forward.
(if you have long arms or suitable assistant.)

Can anyone recommend a simple and cheap collimation tool that might help
with this operation?

Thanks

35mm film canister, with a 2mm hole punched centrally in each end.

Best,
Stephen

I have one - punched by the maestro himself. It works.

Mr Tonkin obviously has a gadget for centering the film canister?
Ive tried to do this but i just cant get the 2 holes centered =
I got through about 20 canisters trying then gave up and bought
a dirt cheap ep and pulled out the optics!!!

Job Done!

No, but the Fuji film canister has a built-in gadget for centring the
hole. It's called a dimple. Just push the dimple from the "other side"
with a biro or something, as though to try to turn it into a nipple. The
appropriate bit of plastic usually dissociates itself from the remainder
of the can (or lid), usually very neatly.

Be careful if you do it for someone else, though -- it took Frey the
best part of a year to stop whinging that I'd ruined his focuser dust
plug.

Best,
Stephen
