Thanks to all for the information and opinions. It seems that I'm back to
my original conclusion that the C-14 would be the better choice of the two scopes. To those that suggested going the Newtonian route, I agree with the ideas presented, but I just like to be able to use the goto mount and have a comfortable eyepiece position when I'm doing marathon sessions. Don't get me wrong, I love my Obsession and wouldn't part with it. Whenever I take it to star parties I have lines of people waiting to view through it. I'm actually thinking of getting a shorter pier for the 1200 gto so that I can sit down while observing. Thanks again for the info. "sally" wrote in message ... I'm considering purchasing either a C-14 or Meade 16 SCT and I'm curious as to what others experiences have been with these scopes. I know the C-14 has a great overall reputation and I'm leaning that way, but Meade has just lowered the price of the 16" SCT by a bunch. I had a chance to use a Meade 16 at Kitt peak a few years ago and found the images pretty good. I've never used a C-14. So which is more likely to be a great scope? Mark |
