Default Tonights Machholz Image (2005-01-06)

Heh heh heh - only kidding! Can't remove daylight and see over the
horizon from Selsey just yet!

This one was taken on the 6th and the comet is a tad closer to the
cluster than my previous posting. It shows how tired I've become
because I couldn't work out why the comet kept looking as if it was
the same distance from M45. Hmmm, perhaps it's got something to do
with a higher zoom setting on the telephoto lens - doh!

Hi Peter.

This one http://faxmentis.org/html/machholz.html was taken at 11:43am (your
time).

Mind you - I am in Australia and it was quite dark.

A pretty sad attempt compared to your lovely images, but it *does* show the
comet the right way around.

Excellent - nice to see again! I love the enhancement to the comet
when you hover your mouse over the top picture (Starry Night?).

They are all the right way around, it's just that your's is upside
down Jeff ;-)

Yep.
Backyard version. I "love" the option to enter orbital elements for comets,
and love even more the way it downloads them automatically. Shame it can't
put the tail up there, that bright, though.

I'm still amazed at how beautifully and accurately it overlays on actual
images.

Hey! I said that first!

Thanks for comments, Pete. Weather willing I'll get a better one when he
nudges the sisters tomorrow.

Cheers (and ya-a-a-a-w-w-n)

I understand that Orion upsets you Northerners even more.

Here we call his belt and sword "the saucepan".
