What's wrong with black widows? Very shy and reclusive, I wouldn't be
bothered
by having them under my observatory.

Years ago we lived in Idaho. We had just moved into a different house and I
reached between the sink and the wall to retrieve something I had dropped
there. I couldn't reach it and looked in to see big fat black widow spider.
My young son was very excited with this and with the later discovery of a
black widow community in the root celler. He told me he had been praying we
would have black widows in the new house because he wanted to see what they
looked like.

Later I learned (when I had a flat tire) that he had been praying for flat
tires because it was great fun to go to the tire store and watch them take
the tire off the rim and put it back on. I asked if there was anything else
he was praying and he said he was praying the car battery would ie because
he wanted to see how it was replaced. I took him outside and on condition he
would stop praying those things, took the battery out and put it back in
while he watched.

Since then I get up in the morning and the first thing I do is ask God to
ignore anything my son, wife or mother-in-law have been praying. Life has
improved with this little change.

Now my son is 19 and has a great fear of spiders.

It's nice where I am here in Colorado- no pests to speak of
at all. The most annoying problem is the Miller moths, which show up for

about 6
weeks every summer and insist on crawling inside every nook and cranny in

the
observatory. Moth guts makes a lousy lubricant for gears!
