Not quite sure if this is what you have in mind, but for example Steve
Chambers runs a fixed camera survey looking for variable stars,

asteroids
etc
here
http://www.sky-survey.com/
(Fixed in alt az and therefore scans a strip of sky in RA Dec)

Interesting ..... does this offer hope of digital imaging fun to Dobsonian
owners?

Hi Alan,

It would be interesting to try. You would have to align the camera in RA/Dec
and the exposure would be limited by the narrower field (say 1min for a 15
arcmin field at the clestial equator) but by staying away from the pole and
nudging the scope over 1 field in RA after each exposure you might be able
to make a series of drift exposures and stack them.

Robin
